Head of Strategy (TOM & Strategic Design) - Leeds City Centre

This newly created position within the business will develop the transformation roadmap to support the delivery of the business strategic priorities. This role will engage collaboratively with senior stakeholders to define and implement the operating model that will underpin the transformation roadmap e.g. interface with Digital Operating Model, Operations Transformation. You will lead the process to shape, define and implement the enterprise-wide Target Operating Model (TOM), including defining the target state and multi-year transformation roadmap to achieve this.


  • Create and manage the blueprint of key business processes, ensuring the as-is position is baselined, any proposed changes have clear KPIs aligned to our strategic priorities and are supported by a robust Enterprise Architecture solution
  • Define, prioritise, plan and implement the transformation roadmap, including full business case assessment, return on investment metrics, investment allocation, establishing KPIs, cost saving profile and benefits tracking
  • Work closely with other areas to identify and prioritise tactical and strategic business improvement opportunities e.g. Operations Transformation, Digital Self-Serve, Change and Business Services and match them to the most appropriate internal or external solution
  • Liaise closely with Change to determine the most appropriate route to live and identify the skills mix required to support delivery of the strategic roadmap
  • Functional responsibility for leading the Strategic Design team (appox 4 people)
  • Establish and embed a Strategic Design Authority capability and supporting governance model across the Society to identify, prioritise and co-ordinate delivery of the transformation agenda


  • Experience of Strategic Design and Target Operating Model
  • Ability to translate strategy into deliverable transformation programmes
  • Experience of prioritising transformational change
  • Proven track record of process re-engineering with evidence of the ability to deliver measurable results
  • Ability to spot opportunities and match them to the most appropriate solution to drive cost effective business improvement
