Business Systems Manager

A leading Insurer based in the City is looking to bring in a Business Systems Manager that has come from a Lloyd's Insurance / London Market background with senior stakeholder management skills, team leadership / management and strong systems experience to act as the interface between the business and IT teams.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for business critical systems and platforms
  • Responsible for Service Management process across: Incident Management, Change Management, Release Management and Service Requests
  • Identify potential issues to ensure deadlines are met
  • Lead initiatives developing new integration capabilities and enhancements to existing platforms
  • Coordinate and meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems
  • Drive change around development best practices, software release automation, and driving DevOps mindset with 3rd party vendors
  • Mentor, guide and coach to cross-functional teams
  • Foster the collaboration, motivation, interaction and continuous improvement environment
  • Build and maintain close relationships within the technology department with dependencies for deliverables exist
  • Responsible for developing team members technical skills, working process, behaviours, attitude and confidence

Skills and Experience

  • Skills such as; Relationship Management, Active Listening, Critical Thinking, Complex Problem Solving, Monitoring, Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience, Coordination - Adjusting actions in relation to others actions, Communicating effectively to convey information, Judgement and Decision Making
  • Experience of a customer service focused, process & data driven environment
  • Expert knowledge of tools, techniques and best practices for the movement and integration platforms
  • Working knowledge of Solution Life-cycle Management tools and Continuous Integration methods (e.g. CI/CD pipelines, software release automation)
  • Working as part of a self-organising team
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to define and delegate roles and tasks
  • Knowledge of; Application life-cycle management & project delivery, using Agile methodologies (e.g.g SCRUM, Kanban and SAFe)
