To work alongside and support the Financial Accountant for oversight of our client's general ledger, financial accounting and taxation.

The main responsibilities will be;

  • Assisting with preparation of financial statements for our client and its subsidiaries
  • Dealing with audit queries in line with the audit timetable
  • Revaluation of balance sheet currency balances and income
  • Assisting with calculation of cost and income recharges across our client group and processing entries for the intercompany accounts
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts in accordance with the control spread sheet
  • Assisting with processing of monthly month end journals- prepayments, accruals and fixed costs
  • Regulatory reporting including the preparation of monthly solvency position
  • Assisting with the preparation/calculation of the corporation tax for the various Miller entities across various jurisdictions
  • Liaise with tax advisers in respect of ad hoc taxation advice as necessary
  • Assisting with the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Assisting with providing Business units support on day to day issues
  • Undertake financial analysis of clients, competitors, cover holders etc. as necessary.
  • Ad hoc reports, accounting, taxation(including requesting tax certificates from HMRC) and projects as necessary
  • Adhere to and meet fully the expectations of our client, as set out in its policies and procedures, training material, and embedded in its systems and controls. Our policies and procedures are written to encapsulate the compliance, legal and financial crime related legislation and regulations which apply to our client.
  • Comply with any external rules and requirements imposed on individuals performing their role at our client, such as Lloyd's bye-laws and FCA rules

The ideal candidate will have/be;

  • Part-qualified/Qualified Accountant
  • Knowledge of accounting IT systems

  • Knowledge of accounting standards

  • Intermediate level Excel skills

  • Knowledge of general regulatory principles and reporting requirements

  • Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) knowledge - desirable

  • Financial accounting experience, with experience of preparing statutory accounts

  • Experience of working in an accounting firm or financial services

  • Technical training as part of studies towards a professional qualification
